Innings of: Ecton Hall
Innings of: St Michael's
Match report St Michael's winning start to the season came to an abrupt end when Ecton Hall gained revenge for their defeat 3 weeks ago by winning by 52 runs.St Michael's skipper won the toss, and being a creature of habit, put the visitors in to bat. Ecton openers Wills and Wheatman proved difficult to remove, and it wasn't until the thirteenth over when a wicket fell, when Baker removed Wheatman to a juggling catch by Vince Cross at second slip. Malc Swann took 2 quick wickets early in his spell, but after that, the bowlers struggled. Wills, with crease occupation at the forefront of his mind, took no chances, whilst Briddon chanced his arm and made a solid half century. St Michael's fielding was below par, with 2 dropped catches off Ian Geddes' bowling not helping the cause. Two late run outs left the Ecton total a challenging one of 157. In reply, St Michael's were soon in trouble with openers Dale Harrison and Vince Cross were soon removing their pads. Young Springbok Andy Marnewick took the attack to the bowlers, hitting an attacking 43, ably supported by veteran Swann. But when Marnewick was out, the wickets continued to tumble as the Ecton bowlers ripped through the fragile St Michael's lower order. Next week see St Michael's take of Monks Park 2s, hoping to get back on the winning trail. |
