Innings of: Obelisk 'A'
Innings of: St Michael's
Match report In the end a comfortable opening day victory for St Michael's, but how they made a meal of a low target in the first game of the season. Obelisk batted first, and were soon in trouble at 3 for 3, with Andy Marnewick and Malc Swann causing havoc with the Obelisk top order. A recovery of sorts ensued, with Smith's 28 the only sign of resistance. However a couple of run outs did not help, and with some tight bowling a sprightly fielding, the Obelisk score of 62 shouldn't have proved a problem. But it did. You could put it down to opening day rustiness, or perhaps a lack of concentration. But the wickets fell as rapidly as they did in the first innings. However Matt Collier's 30 proved the difference, with no other St Michael's batsman reaching double figures. A nervous end, but a win none the less.
