Innings of: Prims XLCR
Innings of: St Michael's
Match report A run fest at the Racecourse saw St Michael's lose out on the semi finals of the Garnett Cup against last year's winners Prims. On baking hot day, with the boundaries short and the outfield lightening fast, the runs soon piled up as Prims took an early liking to the St Michael's attack. Boundaries came aplenty, Steve Hanwell taking a particular fancy to the opening bowlers. He was eventually out 6 shy of a century, but Long Denny and Bates carried on the onslaught. The final total of 316 was, to put at mildly, massive, and one that St Michael's would to well to get any where near to. To their credit, St Michael's didn't lie down, putting up a good reply. After an early cameo by Will Kingston, Matt Collier and Ian Geddes had a stand of 80 as the Prims bowlers found themselves chasing leather. The target of over 300 was never in trouble, but a spirited response saw the winning margin kept to under a hundred.
