Innings of: Spencer
Innings of: St Michael's
Match report A miserable batting display from St Michael's gifted Spencer a 39 run victory on Saturday.Spencer batted first, and made a solid start, scoring 3 an over for the first 14. Veteran Trevor Kirby made the breakthrough, bowling McLeod with a full length delivery for 12 with the score on 42. One over and one run later, Martin Baker took a smart return catch of his own bowling to dismiss Richard Muscutt for a single. The run rate slowed somewhat after those 2 quick wickets. Simon Cannell bowled some teasing deliveries, with his one wicket coming off a slow full toss from his first delivery. Tom Marlow had his best display for St Michael's, grabbing a superb 4 for 17 off 8 tight overs. St Michael's reply started well, but the wickets soon came. The bowlers were on top, but Ian Geddes could consider himself particularly unlucky with his dismissal. At 51 for 8, a heavy defeat was on the cards. However Cannell and Marlow followed on their good bowling displays with 16 and 22 respectively, Marlow smashing the ball to all parts of the ground. He was eventually run out trying to sneak a quick single, and that was almost the end. The final score of 82 was a poor effort, and one that needs to be improved on if it isn't to become a long hard summer. |
