Match report
St Michael's maintained their unbeaten record
in this hard fought game with Prims. Winning the toss, skipper Ian Geddes put
the visitors in to bat. After a 30 minute delay for rain, reducing the game to
40 overs a side, the Prims openers made a solid start, with the St Michael's
opening bowlers unable to make the breakthrough. Runs were flowing at a rapid
rate until Clayton Kelly removed Hulch for 17. A double bowling change brought
Malc Swann and Martin Baker into the attack, and they managed to apply the
brakes. Swann struck to remove Steve Hanwell, given out LBW by Dad Frank. Baker
had Denny caught behind for 12, before Swann removed Phillips, also caught
behind. Some lusty blows from Dave Wood brought some quick runs before Brian
Ahearn stumped him with some good glove work off Tom Marlow.
The St Michael's reply had a stuttering start
until Matt Collier came to the crease. He hit some lusty blows in a quickfire 34
before be was bowled by Richard Davis. Will Kingston was also bowled, failing to
get forward. And when Brian Ahearn was run out for 1, a Prims win was on the
cards. But Malc Swann blocked and blocked, accumulating runs along the way. With
safety secured, some late blows from Simon Cannell secured the three quarter
score and a second batting point.
