Match report
St Michael's unbeaten run continued in this
easy 9 wicket win over Ecton Hall on Saturday.
Back at Kingsthorpe Rec, after Weston Favell
was made unavailable, skipper Ian Geddes won the toss and asked the visitors to
bat first. Opening bowlers Clayton Kelly and Rushon Palangi were unable to
re-create the last week's fireworks, and so it was left to local lads Martin
Baker and Tom Marlow to show the Springboks how it should be done. Looking
comfortable at 20 for nought, Ecton crumbled to 49-9 as wickets fell at regular
intervals. A last wicket cameo between Gray and Steve Wheatman added 20 for the
last wicket to leave the final score at 73 all out.
The St Michaels opening batters of Dale
Harrison and Rushon Palangi decided to attack the Ecton bowlers from the start.
Palangi in particular took delight in Wheatman's bowling, hitting him for 15 in
his third over before he was asked to take a blow.
In the end victory was reached in the
thirteenth over by 9 wickets, leaving plenty of time for a couple of pints
before the club BBQ.
