South African Expedition 2000 Sunday 23 January We all over slept, and awoke with hangovers. No surprise really, considering the amount wed knocked back last night. We, at those prices, who could blame us? England were playing South Africa in the first match of the Tri-nations tournament in Blomfontein. Our bowlers did a good job, with Gough and Caddick doing most of the damage. Most surprising was seeing Graeme Swann playing. When we spoke to him at Centurion park, he said that he was going home straight after the test match, and so it was a pleasant surprise to see him make his full England debut. In the afternoon, we went for a wonder down to the seafront. It wasnt much to shout about, but we did stumble across a crazy golf course. After 18 holes, we decided to quench our thirsts and hunger at Theos Restaurant. And what a good decision it proved to be. We were served by a totally gorgeous waitress called Rachel. She was an absolute stunner. The food wasnt bad either, and was washed down by some tarty cocktails than Rachel talked us into having. I think she probably would have been able persuade us to do anything she wanted if she tried. Then went back to the Irish Rover to watch the end of the cricket. England duly wan the match by 9 wickets, so raising hopes for the games we were to see later in the week. To celebrate, got w##kered. |
